New book INCOMING!

Well, its official, after years of "Later this year" and "Next year", the Tomb Kings are getting an army book.
This thread is for all rumor and hearsay that anyone wants to share.

Finaly getting that new book eh, do you think that they will give out some new modles with that or just the rules?

Yeah, likely a sphinx or something large, per the trend. Rumour is, no new skeletons, which doesn't bother me, I have too many of the old one painted already. Hopefully a plastic Ushabti, and some rules that don't make 'em suck. Also plastic scorpions have been rumoured.
We'll see.

And 3 it came from below Nagas?!? um... no, thats WAY too awesome. My opponents would go blind from over exposure to pure awesomeness. And thats bad sportmanship.

The battle magic cards and the wording of their description make me nervous. I am getting a very "magic like everyone else" vibe off of them. Please don't let it be so!

Love the new stuff, I think it gives TK what it has been lacking as far as the modeling department, but yea the magic looks like it will be taking a hit. I wonder if that is going t become a theme, the orcs and goblins dex got hit and if the TK magic is messed up as well then we may have a problem on our hands. Damn you GW

The problem is, I own both the TK and O&G army books. GW sees that and they must wreck it.

yeah i have been seeing the green skins mop up so far. I dont think they wrecked them they are a tuff army to beat atm.

Oh, I'm sure the TK will be very powerful, and beat lots of face. But will it matter if they aren't really TK any more? I don't play an army because it is really strong and unbeatable, I play it for the feel and for fun.

all prob would change is just the added creatures

I think changing there magic to a school rather then bound spells will be better for the tomb kings and stillletthem retain there flavor. One it will let them take adavatage of wizard levels to add too the spell casting attempts like everyone eles as well as load up on power dice boosting things that other armies can take advantage of. Also it will make games go faster as everone will know the rules are the same for your magic phase just like every other armie. If they do a spell school for tomb kings right then it can have alot of good flavor and you wont really lose all that much except you will have a more powerful magic phase thenyou do now. Just my thoughts.

Just saying i dont personally think its a problem with games-workshop games i see it as making the over all game play a bit smoother and faster.

I'm sure there are plenty of Chaos players that would agree, simpler is better. Honestly, I think we should got to 1 army book, then just reskin the models for the different races. No more complaining about different army books, or over powered this or that, hell, we could call it chess.(Nothing against chess, I like chess, just not why I play warhammer, malifaux, whatever)

I'm trying to put a positive spin on it. We don't even know what they are doing with the magic yet so its all hypothetical. I'm just saying I can see what they are thinking if they do change it and don't think it would be so bad. Even if they make the core rules the same for how they use magic it doesn't mean you wont get there flavor from there own unique spell school.

They (GW) have to be careful, the people may have good intent when they write the rules but powergamers will break those unique spells and spell scholls as soon as they can. Even if they just simplify it, that may open the doors for an untold amount of broken trash. I dont know which way they are going, but whatever way they do it must be done carefuly.

although tomb kings will probly get there own spells. alot more doors would be opened if they had more options to get at the spells in the rule book some of the spells could make the codex they have alot beter and with the new one i dont want to think about it

Yeah we dont need an army that has the magic phase won before it begins, but on the other hand if it is changed to how everyone eles is then the TK would be losing some of it soul...

I have yet to see any army just win the magic phase out of hand with this new magic system so I think it would be hard for them to get away with.

6 dice into dwellers? Oops, I miscast, BUT you can't do anything against it, that unit is toast, you have 4 dispel dice you didn't even touch, and now shooting...
