This sunday during my sides magic phase.
Ogre player : I use HellHeart (an ogre arcane item)
Forces of good : What does that do?
Ogre player : You miscast on any double's and roll on th Ogre miscast chart.
Forces of good : oooo......ok so on to shooting.
The other side won the magic phase and it wasnt even their magic phase!

Ogars need some good stuff dont them = )

All i am saying is that it is possibly to win M.P. before it even starts. If they can make the TK great wizards good, but if they make them wizard gods then there is going to be problems. The ones writing these books get it right most of the time, so when it finally drops I cant wait to try my Chaos magic vs their undead magic.

Tomb Kings don't march, their current move comes from a spell. If they now have a lore, that means its a roll to get that spell. That is why I asked.

Only get movement on signature, and no more charge in magic phase.
Still sifting, but *sigh*

OOOO! and our uber 6th spell does a Purple Sun type thing with a wopping str 4 hit! That'll wreck nobodies day!

Yay! TK magic got punked! No more random Bs that even I, master of the "that didnt go off" cant deal with. Still strong, still competative, but less of the arse hat tricks to be pulled.

Some thoughts:
Magic is going to be rough. Still reliant on it, but much more limited on dice. A bad magic dice roll will wreck shop. Casket likely to be a must, even though its not near as good any more, but will need the d3 dice.
The Tomb Guard got a drop to the Magic Standard limit, so I'm guessing the Skeles lost it completely, no more undying legion without a BSB, and its the only castable heal.
Khalida is not what she used to be, age is starting to show. Only her unit get poison, but they do get BS 3, so...
Skeles are half price, so I am going to need WAY more.

We'll see.

1/2 price on skeleys? That sounds like a metric shite ton of archers. Great, its TK fighting pincushions.

Skeles are 4 base, archers are 6, from 8 and 10(with poison).

I have been reading there book up and down and I have too say i think they will be my next army. I'm pretty stoked because they are exactly what i was looking for in my next warhammer fantasy army. Mainly that they will be completely different from my empire army.

I only really have three complaints. Firstly that the priests cant ride on chariots and are limited to skeletal steeds. I would have really liked to put one with my chariots to give them the 6+ regeneration. Not to mention to keep them in pace with the army id like to build.

Second that they got hit with the same less magic item Nerf bat that the orcs and goblins got hit with. Of all the things that sucked about the older additions the unique army magic items was never a problem with any of them and they should not focus on bringing this number down. Or if they are going to bring it down a bunch at least make sure that the ones you keep really worth taking.

lastly that two of the most competitive things in there book don't have models and it means I have to try and make them myself or find a model that looks close enough to what I need. Both the Hierotitan and the Necrolith colossus are great deals at 170 and 175 points for what they do. with the Hiertitans ability to add +d3 to every casting roll made by a priest within 12" and being able to move around the table and help beat some face in combat i think it will be better then the casket of souls. Not to mention its two bound spells. The Necrolith Colossus unstoppable assault and bow of the desert make it a great buy. But sadly there is no models and who knows if they will make some. I'm going to think up some ways to make them out of left over parts from the warsphinx's All i have to do is find a good way to make some legs and it should be OK.

That's my take anyways from just reading the book. Ill have to play test is farther down the road to know if its any good or not.

Priests cant ride chariots? That is lame. As for the magic items is that really a bad thing? Shouldnt it be about the heros or lords stats, not who has the better magical sword?

I agree on the chariots, they didn't keep anything else from the old book, why keep this? BTW a liche on horse moves the same speed in a TK army, and faster in others, just saying.

Less magic items? Better get used to it.

No models for the best units? You're surprised? Have you ever played a GW game?

As to preview copy, I'll bring my tissues. Then stomp some one with the new army with an old name.
