Game day June 18
The party just returned to the city of Korvosa after escorting a acolyte. From a few miles out they could male out that there was trouble. The city was afire, a great number of the buildings where burning. Upon entering the gates the party learned that the King had died day before.
They made there way strait for Field Marshal Kroft headquarters. On the way they encountered a few mobs of citizens and a preacher of doom. Bypassing the mob and killing the doom bringer they reach they Field Marshal's office. She tells them that the shortly after the announcement of the passing of the King the whole city erupted. Groups of people formed mobs and attacked guard posts and businesses. Looting and stealing; burning and destroying as they moved throughout the city.
Kroft as the party to remove a threat that could not go unpunished. Apparently, a group of guards had turned rouge and have been part of the looting and killing. Kroft had asked if the party could bring them back alive to face charges.
Again the party had to snake their way through the city to reach the fallen guards stronghold. The adventures came across a drunken guard. He was a mess, barely able to stand much less. He went on and on about how he loved the King and Queen was up to no good. When one of the party tried to attack him he fought back. Nearly killing one and causing great harm to another. A few more blocks down they come across fleeing peasants. Rounding the corner they see an imp and a pseudodragon, check that four dragons.
From the outside it appeared to be one of the few shops that had gone untouched by the rioting. When the party members first enter the building it seemed to be business as usual. Only the “butcher” did not seem to know much about the meat or where it came from. As half the party broke in the back door, the people in the front did their best to keep the guards occupied. After three-quarters of the doors shamed and broken. The party had the evil sergeant cornered. Unwilling to given himself up. The Sgt was ready to fight to the death. Until he was coated in oil, and a very convincing Bard talked him down. The group strips the Sgt of his weapons and ties him up. Then leads him back to Field Marshal Kroft.
Kroft is very pleased with return of this rouge sergeant. So pleased in fact that she offers them another job. One that is critical to the whole city and nation. They are to get blackmail information on an Ambassador. With this information Kroft hopes that she can force him to bend to her will. They party is meets a great Sword Master. He gives the party what little information they have and where they can find more.
The Party needing some down time. Takes two full days off to rest and gain their strength. They sell extra equipment and find pieces to round out their armory. The magic users scribe scrolls and recover spells.
Game day June 20. Noon
The Sword Master turns up at parties house. He tells them of how the city was more fear and easier to get around without so many rules in place. Walking through the city the few people in the streets part as they see this great man walking. The Sword master leads them to a dock that has five boat moored at the fare end. He bids them luck on their next task and melts into the background.
Before them is a dock covered in spider webs, in the webs hang colored lanterns shaped like spiders. Walking down the pier they get the scene that if one had a desire it could be fulfilled in these boats. While most went straight on to get the information two of the party strayed. Stopping to get a quick drink the dwarf learned? That there are drinks out there with only one purpose to get you drunk in a hurry. The rest of the party inside once they get pass the guard after a shaky start.
The Spider King asked them who they where and why should he give them anything? After a few hours of talking they come to an agreement for the information. 4,000 gp spread of 4 years, if they have one that can beet their best at a game called kneeves. A few games later everyone is happy. Gold and some letters changes hands. The Party returns to Kroft.
