| The youtube one is how I did my Malifaux box. The Dakka one is nuts. Well, not so much, until he is hooking cases together. Just be aware, it will rub anything that sticks off the base. Mine for my TK are sheet foam, cut to fit, with walls made to house the tallest(widest) models. I have taller rows for standards and such. The 1/16" foam saves a ton of space. Its all held together with hot glue(use a LOW temp gun). If you need detailed instructions, let me know. | |

| Here is a pic of my trays. Pretty straight foward, feel free to shoot me any questions. I recommend the roll foam, the individual sheets are WAY more expensive. | |

| Its pretty easy really. First, start with the craft foam you can get at any craft store. There are 2 ways to go from here, you can make the trays for the box, or make unit trays that fit in the box. My CSM are done the second way, with my trays designed to hold each unit in the foot print of my ammo box. My TK are done on a unit by unit basis. After you have your container, and how your going to decide unit placement, cut your base foam. What I like to do here is score your foam with a pencil where you want the walls to go, it makes lining up easier later, and creates a nice grove for the walls. Next I usually start with the long walls. First, decide how tall you want the walls. Usually it will be your base size, but it's a good idea to lay your models down how you want and measure the tallest, then add a little for some extra room. Start with the outside. They should be length of base. Remember to subtract 1/16" for each wall, so the second set of walls(i.e. if first were vertical, the horizontal ones on top and bottom) should be 1/8" shorter. Also take this into account for the height of the bays, they will be 1/16" taller plus 1/16" for the bottom of the first row. Then just start gluing it all together, using a low temp gun, because high temp can melt the foam. Rinse and repeat, filling in till everything is done. My prefered method is side walls, then all horizontal walls, then put in vertical walls to create the final bays. The foam is pretty flimsy, but as you add walls it firms up rather well. I will always be a little wiggley though, so make sure you have a hard case, these are to hold and pad your models, not to protect. How does KR Multicase put it? "Soft foam to protect your models, hard case to protect the soft foam"
As an aside, I originally found this as instructions for using felt, but it just seemed to rough for me, so I went with the smooth foam.
Good luck! Feel free to ask. | |

| I went for the extreme route of magnetizing all my bases (and tanks) with neodymium magnets which I buy off ebay in bulk, 100 for about $15. Then I cut a sheet of duct metal from home depot and glued it into a big plastic bin. That way all my models stick firmly to the metal and don't slide unless you violently shake them. The magnets are so strong I can even stick my heavy pewter dreadnought and land raider right to my fridge and they won't slide off. The only problem is some of them will snap together if they get too close, and snap together quite forcefully. | |
